PO FESR Sicily Project 2014/2020

311.2a

The resources allocated under the PO FESR Sicily 2014/2020 have been used for the constructionof structural works, installation of new systems, and processing machines aimed at modernizing the existing plant and consequently expanding it, allowing for further automation of processes, especially in the packaging department.

The project was also implemented with the goal of integrating state-of-the-art technologies, with particular attention to the use of materials and machines suitable for food applications. Additionally, through the installation of triple filtration air conditioning systems, it has beenpossible to improve the microclimate to protect the health and physical integrity of workers, whilealso achieving an overall improvement in environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, and air quality, thus safeguarding the standardization of the finished product.

The installation of the photovoltaic system has significantly reduced the energy needs from externalsources, ensuring an improvement in energy efficiency and a significant step forward in the journeytoward a sustainable energy future.

Energy efficiency does not imply lower production to reduce energy consumption, but ratherenhances productivity and effectiveness of the systems, allowing the plant to produce the samequantity of product with less energy resources.

Finally, the automation of production processes has improved resource efficiency in both directterms, by reducing waste caused by fluctuations in key process parameters, and in indirect terms, through better maintenance practices that help prevent increases in energy consumption due to downtime and startup delays, as well as reductions in defective products.
